Knockout Tournament - Glossary Term
A knockout tournament is a competition divided into successive rounds. Each competitor plays in a maximum of one fixture per round. The victorious team or indivdual in each fixture progresses to the next round. The progression of each round sees the number of competitors and fixtures decrease by half, until the final round is reached, which consists of just one fixture. The winner of this fixture is the overall tournament champion.
