Golf Handicap - Glossary Term

A golf handicap is a numerical figure used to measure the usual playing ability of an amateur golfer. It can be employed to calculate a net score from the number of strokes actually played, or gross score. This allows players of different levels of ability to compete against each other on equal terms. Handicaps are administrated by golf clubs or national golf associations.
