Europe's leading fleet of pre-owned boats, supported by professional networks
EYB – the European Yacht Brokerage – is a unique Internet-based service, established in 1999 by the BÈnÈteau group, that specialises in the European pre-owned boat market via four main distribution networks - BÈnÈteau, Jeanneau, Lagoon and Wauquiez.
EYB’s multilingual staff of four works closely with the sales forces of these four companies.
EYB, a solid base that is a recognised name in the pre-owned market
EYB currently has more than 120 members across Europe, including 60 in France, all recognised for their professionalism.
EYB receives more than 75,000 visitors to its website every month with more than 1,000,000 pages accessed each month. To date, more than 6,000 of these European visitors, who are looking for a pre-owned boat, have subscribed to the EYB mailing list, with 35% being regular visitors.
EYB has a Europe-wide multi-brand database, which is updated in real time and is accessible to everyone.
- More than 2,000 boats on-line together with descriptions and photos;
- Boats ranging from 5 to 40 metres, of which more than 70% are between 7 and 16 metres;
- 53% of boats are Group brand names;
- 43% are sail boats and 57% are power boats (launches, fishing/pleasure boats and motor yachts);
- Price range – from €1,500 to €5 million, with more than 65% of boats in the €30,000 to €250,000 range.
EYB had completed more than 4,200 sales by the end of November 2002, with an average lead time of approximately four months.
Through the high quality of its activities and its networks, EYB now makes available to its members reliable internal listings of transactions that cover a significant share of the European pre-owned market.

EYB – INCREASING NAME RECOGNITION
EYB is launching a major Europe-wide publicity campaign, both in the press and “on-line”:
- In the major German, British, Spanish, French, Greek, Italian and Scandinavian specialist boating magazines;
- On the Internet sites of the major specialist magazines, in the form of publicity banners.
Since May 2002, EYB has also been strengthening its presence in the eyes of its members by offering them daily weather bulletins by e-mail, thanks to a tie-up with MÈtÈorem.
EYB is enjoying great success at the major European Boat Shows.
- EYB will once again be exhibiting at the winter shows in Paris, London and D¸sseldorf, following on from the major boating events of autumn 2002. These shows are bringing EYB real recognition and success, which is reflected in a marked increase in the number of visitors to the website after each show.
- In October 2002, EYB launched a free magazine, which is published six times a year and has a circulation of 30,000 copies. Available at the group’s dealers, the magazine already lists more than 800 boats available for sale in France.

Why Was EYB Created?
Following completion of a study that began in 1998, BÈnÈteau observed that:
Pre-owned boats constituted an enormous market that the company’s professional networks only partly controlled
- 2 out of every 3 customers were buying pre-owned boats;
- In France, 3/4 of sail boat transactions and 2/3 of power boat transactions took place directly between individuals.
The pre-owned market was unstructured
- unlike in the US, there was no pre-owned marketplace organised on a Europe-wide level;
The new and pre-owned markets remained closely linked
- 75% of buyers of new boats had previously owned a boat;
- part exchange was involved in more than half of all transactions.
